Our Process
How It Works
We can’t wait to talk to you about your potential project!
A consultation consists of Shadow Dance Stoneworks (SDS) visiting your property and talking to you about the dreams and ideas you have for your outdoor spaces, as well as your preferences in stone shape and color, and an ideal budget for your projects. With this information, SDS will prepare an estimate for you that will outline the potential materials and costs for your project, and a projected timeline. For most patios, paths, walls, steps, and benches, your consultation and estimate will be free of cost. At this point, we may discuss the estimate and modify it. After the estimate is agreed upon, SDS will draw up a contract.
If you have a complicated project, i.e. a 20 foot long slope of stone steps ending in a 200 square foot patio and 10 foot long retaining wall, we charge $35/hr for consultation and estimate time, which will be prorated if you chose to hire SDS as your contractor. Your estimate may or may not include concept sketches or drawings.
If you have a large project in mind that might take more then one season to complete, we recommend getting a landscape design.
Landscape Design
Shadow Dance Stoneworks offers a landscape design service that allows you to own a scale representation of your potential landscape project. We will map out your property and create a landscape design that graphically incorporates your existing home and other landmarks into a beautiful drawing that blends your aesthetic wishes and desires with permaculture design principles. We focus on the hardscape aspects of the design, but can incorporate trees, shrubs, perennials, and edibles into the design as well.
Our goal is to make your landscaping dreams into reality.
A landscape design is not prorated as is a simple consultation and estimate. You will be billed after the design is completed. A small down payment is customary as a retaining fee.
Choosing Shadow Dance Stoneworks
When you chose SDS for a project, we will work closely with you at every step to make sure you understand the process.
After the consultation and estimate phase, we will send you a contract that you can sign and return with a 50% down payment. This will put you on our calender, and we will then agree on a starting date for your project.
When we begin, we will talk over the entire project at your site to make sure everything is clear. As we progress, we will check in regularly. As we complete the project, we will make sure the site is clean and tidy. After the project is complete, we will send you an invoice in a timely fashion.
