Fall Cairns
Cairns are important navigational aids in our lives. They show the way forward on a path, they mark a death, and they can be places of power or portals to mystical experiences. A cairn is simply a construction of medium to large rocks in a way that suggests something; a humanoid figure, an arch, or a pillar.
I made these cairns near Lake Superior this fall, on a sort of vision quest I undertook. These cairns were an exercise in speed, I wanted to see what I could create in ten minutes or so. I would like to go back and create larger or more complex cairns at some point. It is such a meditative act.
